ABOUT US
Our Story And Mission
Founded in 2022 during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Backyard Skull Festival began as a heartfelt, DIY endeavor to recreate the magic of festivals for family and friends when public events were restricted. Growing up, we learned to be resourceful and creative, shaping our dreams without hefty budgets. This spirit of ingenuity and generosity is at the core of our non-profit festival—we aim to give more than we take, crafting unforgettable moments rather than seeking profit.
As we expanded, 2023 saw us move to a larger location to welcome more guests while preserving our close-knit atmosphere. In 2024, we took a bold step by introducing live bands, transforming our gathering into a full-fledged festival without losing our DIY charm. Everything—from web design and booking to stage planning and ticket sales—is managed by us and our dedicated team of volunteers, friends, and family.
Supporting the local artist community is a cornerstone of our mission. We actively seek out talented nearby bands, minimizing expenses for them and offering a welcoming stage to those passionate about live performance. Our lineup has featured incredible acts such as NIOR, Radiogeist, Onexx, Light The Blind, Tyranuke, Soledown, Mike Misfit from Aachen, Masochine,Mary In Vertigo and the spirited pirate gypsy band AARGH.
What sets the Backyard Skull Festival apart is our commitment to fostering a warm, inclusive community where everyone feels like part of the family. Our festival is a hidden gem—you’ll experience an abundance of live music across diverse genres, including various sub-genres of Metal, Punk, and Goth like EBM, Industrial, Post-Punk, as well as Alternative music. With ample space to pitch your tent and the convenience of a weekend event, you won’t need to take time off work. Best of all, it’s affordable and won’t strain your wallet.
This year, we’re embracing a new theme that delves into the mysterious and the enchanting, adding a touch of the dark and the witchy to enhance your festival experience. We’ve carefully crafted an atmosphere that resonates with the deeper tones of our featured music genres, creating an immersive environment that is both thrilling and inviting.
Join us at the Backyard Skull Festival 2025, where you can leave the everyday behind, forge new friendships, and enjoy music up close and personal. Here, you can connect with the bands, immerse yourself in the moment, and be part of a community that values genuine connections over commercial interests. We can’t wait to see you on the festival grounds!
